Continue reading »]]> So here I am again with another unboxing post, if you remember, last year (2010 to be specific) I did an unboxing of Starcraft 2. Today I will be doing an unboxing of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword Limited Edition.

Before I start though, let me share what I think of the game so far. Skyward Sword’s controls are just awesome in my opinion, the way you just swipe the wiimote side to side or up and down to swing the sword. The graphics of the game are nice, while parts of Skyward Sword has a comic look to it, it also quite a mature look to it and I’ve got to say that I like it. I’m really enjoying the game so far from what I’ve played.

Continue reading »]]> First of all, Halloween Halloween! Instead of doing what I’ve done the previous two years for Halloween, I thought I’d do something different.

These are my Top 6 Horror games or the “Top 6 games that scare the sh*t out of me”.

Oh and here’s a pumpkin-man for you, Click Here for more pumpkins!

6. Penumbra Series

To be honest I just started playing the first game in this series, Penumbra Overture, from what I’ve played, it seems to be a fairly good game. That said, it really hasn’t been all that scary so far, thus is why it got the #6 spot. I am looking forward to a good scare from it though.

5. Killing Floor

Okay so Killing Floor is technically labeled as a “Horror” First Person Shooter but to be honest, it isn’t all that scary. There are however scary things in it.   Take the Flesh Pound for example, when you see one of those guys running enraged down a hall at you, you can’t help but feel a bit scared and start to back-petal.

4. Amnesia: The Dark Descent

This game I have played through all the way, not a bad story. You no weapons in this game so if you see something that wants to hurt you, you MUST run and hide. I remember hiding behind an open door once, turns out it wasn’t a very good hiding spot. I was spotted and killed, scared the sh*t out of me too.

3. DOOM Series

DOOM just has to be in this list in my opinion, it wouldn’t be a Top whatever list of Horror games without this game in it! DOOM is scary no matter which game you play it seems, from DOOM 1, all the way to DOOM 3, which goes to the level of “scare your pants off”.

2. Dead Space Series

The two Dead Space games currently out are just awesome, awesome gameplay, awesome story. Things WILL pop out of nowhere and scare the crap out of you. So be prepared to be scared!

1. F.E.A.R Series

F.E.A.R. remains one of the scariest game I have ever played, at first there are cheesy things which might scare some but didn’t scare me. Later on it gets better and better though. Although I admit I have only played the first few F.E.A.R. games but I really enjoyed them and can see myself enjoying the rest I think.

Well that’s it! That’s the end of this brief list of my top 6 horror games.

Continue reading »]]> It’s been a little while, sometimes I just get lazy and don’t post for a bit.

Anyways, I found this infographic on another blog and, considering it’s a solid list of upcoming games, decided to share it. This infographic was put together by IGN based on IGN Reader popularity. It features multiple categories: Nintendo, Microsoft, Sony, PC, and Multiplatform. Look to the bottom for a link to the original article.

Personally, the games on this list I am most excited about are: The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword (which I have already pre-ordered the Limited Edition of for the Golden Wiimote), Diablo 3 (PC), Max Payne 3 (PC), Batman: Arkham City (PC).
Games not on this list that I am excited about are: Bioshock: Infinite (PC), Metro: Last Light (PC), Aliens: Colonial Marines (PC), PayDay: The Heist (PC), and Imagine: Fashion Designer. Just kidding on that last one, wanted to make sure you were paying attention.

Finally, just a little update from me. I recently purchased a Nintendo 3DS “Cosmo Black” (had a DSi before it) along with a copy of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D. Overall I love the console, aside from it’s main negatives: the time it takes to charge the 3DS (3 and a half hours x_x) and the battery life (around 5 hours max). The Augmented Reality (AR) stuff is really cool, the “3D” aspect to it… not so much. Getting to play the Ocarina of Time for the first time in quite a while brought back some fond memories.

Continue reading »]]> So I managed to snag up Dead Island for the PC on Green Man Gaming for $34 a few hours before it was released here in North America.

So far I have to say I am enjoying this game, I know everyone is saying it’s full of bugs but what do you expect? Pretty much every game can’t have a “flawless” release, the sooner people realize this the better.

There are only two bugs that irk me, the one that causes Dead Island to crash when you try to use “Rage” mode and the one with the black screen on start that happens when you use two monitors or more, which can be fixed by disabling the extra monitors. Other than those I have noticed a few crashes but nothing to stop me from playing. See my edit at the bottom.

I recorded a few minutes of gameplay from Dead Island, enjoy!

NOTE: As I stated in the video description, the hiccups in this video would be caused by my computer (because I was using Fraps to record) NOT Dead Island, Specs of my computer/laptop are in the description for the video as well.

BONUS: You should recognize these two people from the announcement video of Dead Island.

EDIT: The first bug I mentioned, the one where the game crashes when you go into rage mode, is now fixed, the second bug still isn’t fixed but there are a few solutions out there to fix this problem. One of them would be to simply disable your extra monitors. Another is to open the file “video.scr” found in your documents folder and in “DeadIsland/out/Settings” and edit the “monitor” setting, making it “Monitor(-1)”, remove the “!” too.

Continue reading »]]> On Tuesday (August 23rd) I went on a little 3 day vacation to Niagara Falls (Canada side of course ). Having got back late yesterday (August 25th) I am just getting to this post. I Took about 260 pictures or so on this vacation so I figured I would share them. I also went to Niagara Safari (Previously known as “ZooZ”).

I managed to get some pictures of the Niagara Whirlpool and the New York Power Authority Niagara Power Project Dam, some other places too but I can’t quite remember what those are at the moment. Oh and I went up the Skylon Tower and had dinner in the Revolving Dining Room. The quality of some of the pictures aren’t exactly that great but I did what I could considering I had to take some of the pictures from behind glass which light reflected off of.

There are some pictures which aren’t exactly nice pictures but I thought the colours and effects in the pictures looked cool so I decided to keep them. These two in particular, you can’t see clearly in them but the colours are “purdy” (as I would put it).

For example, it’s not all about expensive gaming rigs that play expensive and demanding games, there are PLENTY of indie games out there which are pretty cheap and don’t require anywhere close to a gaming rig!

The only thing I would add to this article is the fact that you can mod the heck out of games on the PC and host servers for PC games.
